GUIDED TOURS
Drop into the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre and take a guided tour to make the most out of your experience! We offer multiple guided tour experiences, like guided tours of the Interpretive Centre, guided walking tours of the Island, both Centre and Island combination tours, boat tours around the Island, guided tours of Beaubears Island and Wilson’s Point, Tours Through Time character tours, Character guided tours, and pre-booked geological, and ecological specialty tours!

OUR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
Male the first stop on your visit to Beaubears Island the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre! Here you can check out our Gift Shop, book your guided tours, pay admission fees, sign boat ride wavers, get maps to the island, explore our interactive historical displays, see artifacts, and meet our experienced staff! Even though we look like a trading post from the 1700’s, we do have Wifi and debit machines! Make sure to stop by the Interpretive Centre at 35 St. Patrick’s Drive, in Nelson, Miramichi, for all your Beaubears needs!
WALKING AND HIKING
Surrounded by serene beauty and protected nature, Beaubears Island boasts over 6km of maintained walking and hiking trails! Nestled in the Miramichi River, there are many picturesque lookouts, and shore lines around the entire Island.
Beaubears Island is accessible only by boat, and is explored by boaters year-round! Though the Beaubears Ferry Service is only open from 10AM - 5PM during the summer months, you’re more than welcome to take your own boats, kayaks, and canoes over to the Island. Just remember - camping, and fires ARE NOT PERMITTED on Beaubears Island in order to protect our natural National Historic Sites!
EVENTS
Friends of Beaubears Island host events year round! During the summer months, you can expect to see the Annual Beaubears Island Picnic, historical character tours, and special events, while in the off season we host the Beaubears Island Speaker Series, and the Annual Beaubears Island Sugar Bush!
3. HAVE A LARGE GROUP?
BOOK AHEAD!
If your group is larger than 4-5 people, book your activities ahead to secure your spots! Our Boat services only have 12 spots available for each trip out onto the water, so book ahead to be safe! We absolutely except drop in’s, but if your group is large, it is harder for us to accommodate and make your group experience as effortless as possible.
4. PACK ACCORDINGLY!
Make sure to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, and sturdy footwear for hiking. Sandals and flip-flops are not recommended for those wishing to walk the trails, and long pants are recommended during tick season.
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent, and carry a map of the trails with you at all times! Make sure to carry cellphone with a full charge in case of emergency, and save Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre contact details if you plan on venturing onto Beaubears Island alone!
5. ACCOMMODATION AND DINING
